ABOUT THE PROJECT
These learning resources were created as part of the Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded project 'Forged by Fire: Burns Injury and Identity in Britain, 1800-2000' (Grant Number AH/N00664X/1).
Forged by Fire is a unique collaboration between medical historians at the University of Birmingham, urban historians at Leeds Beckett University, and freelance artists, writers, and teachers. The project is exploring the lesser known history of how burns injuries have shaped individual and collective identities in modern Britain.
